After a long and dedicated struggle by our freedom fighters India became free upon the British rule on 15th August 1947. Jawaharlal Nehru, one of the freedom fighter and became first Prime Minister of Independent India and he hoisted the Indian flag, Tricolor, on the rampart of the Red Fort in Delhi at 12:00 p.m. as the zero hour for 15th August started on this date in 1947. He called the moment “ Indias tryst with destiny”. Delhi was declared the capital of India.
15th August is celebrated as Independence Day all over India with great enthusiasm every year. The Prime Minister hoists the Indian flag at the ram Part of Red fort early in the morning. As flag is hoisted, everybody, present there salutes the flag and national anthem begins. After completion of a national anthem, Prime Minster delivers a speech about Government policies, their achievement till date and projects in hand and so many things related to India and Indians after these speech different programs are arranged and this National Festival is celebrated.
It is a national holiday and all private and government offices and schools are closed. WE remember those great people who have sacrificed their lives for our Independence and pay homage to them.
In our school everybody is very excited about this day. Though is National holiday still, we are to go to school for watching the hosted the flag on Previous day all arrangements are done by students and teachers. Our school is painted and decorated by festoon so is looks very beautiful. Various programs are arranged by students. All students reach the school early in the morning before 7 O’clock in clean and well ironed white uniform. The Principal or sometimes the Chief Guest, who is invited, hoist the National flag. As the flag is hoisted, everyone salutes it, and national anthem is sung.
After finishing the National Anthem various programs begin. Principle and chief guest deliver speech. Students also deliver speeches relating with importance of day. Some of them are related to the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for our independence, and some of them are related to various national issues. At that time we are also something’s for our country.
The patriotic songs that are sung by the students get the crowd so excited that even they start singing. The atmosphere is very charged up. The NCC cadets show their excellence in drill though their parade. Many other kinds of demonstrations by the student are also held.
The school authorizes distribute sweets to all the students in this way we sum up our National Festival. I like the Independence day very much and I feel proud to be an Indian.
