My first aero plane journey was a memorable one not just because it was possible because I had qualified for the All India level final of a Prestigious Quiz Contest. The organizers, themselves booked a first class tickets for me and my father from Udaypur to Delhi. I was very excited to travel by and aero plane although my father had travelled by the aeroplane a few times earlier but it was my first time.
It was during the Diwali vacations last year. The result of the state level championship were declared and the names fo the All-India level finalists were declared. After two days, we got our tickets. The flight was IC-217. As the airport was out of the city, the drive as quite long. At the airport here were a lot of security personnel roaming around with guns. Some ministers plane was going to land, we went through a few security checks and then we were cleared. We were given our boarding passes. There was still sometime left for the flight.
In the meanwhile, I was awestruck with the quality of arrangement at the airport. There were many foreigners. I asked many questions to my dad and he answered them. Soon the announcement was made. We had to board our plane. We walked to our plane with other passengers. Our tickets and boarding’s passes were checked and we were greeted by an air hostess at the entrance. She guided me and my dad to two different seats. My dad asked her to try and make such arrangement that me and father could sit beside each other. She asked a foreigner his seat with me and I got for window seat besides my dad.
The plane started running on the runway before take off. There was a sudden jerk and the plane was airborne several security announcements were made. The air hostess informed us about the emergency exits, oxygen, makes not to panic…etc…etc..
I wasn’t actually paying attention there as my dad already knew everything. I was observing the plane and the air hostesses. There were many refreshments served during the travel. The air hostess spoke very politely I was busy watching TV and observing the scenes though the window. There was nothing special, the journey was very smooth.
Thus, my first aero plane journey was not so special but still I will remember it for a long time as it is related to one of my greatest achievements.
