Science is a blessing or a curse? This question todays is being asked by the men’s kind. On one had, we aim to reduce the greenhouse gas emission and on the other hand we are being increasingly dependent on science.
There is a drastic difference between the pre-industrial revolution word and today’s world. At that time there were no vehicles, industries etc. so there was no pollution also. But today air, land and water all are polluted. Science is responsible for this pollution, at the same time it has the power to control this pollution as well.
Modern age is the age of science. During the last few years scientific inventions have changed the face of the world. Inventions like computers, nuclear technology, Nano technology, cellular phones and other machines have made our life comfortable, convenient and easy. Today science is used in all works of life. There is nothing untouched by science.
The means of communication ha turned the world into a global village. People can talk to people thousands of kilometers far away. Internet and telephones have made this possible. Communication satellites are the lifelines of today’s world. Computer has made everything very easy.. The place of large number of stored files in offices is today taken by computers. They can store huge amounts of data and show it to us whenever required immediately. They can perform difficult tasks in seconds. The advances in the fields of medicine and surgery have found cure for such diseases which were previously though incurable.
Man has grown so dependent on electricity that in its absence everything stops. The worlds comes to a standstill during power cut. The basis of all work done today by man is electricity. Space technology has developed so much that man has walked on the moon.
But this dependence on science has also proved harmful in many ways . The number of vehicles are increasing day by day and because of them the consumption of fuel and emission of harmful gases take place. This has invited resulted in Global Warming.
The cutting of trees, fields, forests for industries, houses and other purposes is also leading a hand in increasing temperature and creating an ecological imbalance. The development of nuclear technology has also seen the rise of nuclear weapons. The development of nuclear technology has also seen the rise of nuclear weapons. These weapons are a there for the whole world. Hiroshima and Nagasaki is the example of the destruction caused by them.
Thus, science can also be a tool to shape the world at the same time, it can be weapon for destruction. It depends on our handling.
